Events from 4/4 to 4/8

Hello Albert Hill students and families! I hope your spring bring brought great relaxation and enjoyment to you all! We are now in the home stretch for the remainder of the year. Here is what I have planned in class for students this week:

Monday 4/4/16:

Students will return and complete some review assignments to recap what they may or may not know about causes of the American Civil War. We will complete a review assignment together as a class, and they will complete an open note test.

To bring some humor to the Civil War from a cartoon, here is a Youtube link to the show "Histeria" talking about various details, events and people from that time-

Tuesday 4/5/16:

Students will take a look at photos showing conditions in the northern and southern states during the Civil War, and we will take the time to identify and locate the Union, Border, and Confederate States. Students will then create a blank map filling each state's allegiance and location.

Expect a homework assignment to come home tonight with a reading about Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address :-)

Wednesday 4/6/16

We'll be taking a look at important leaders of the Civil War including Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses Grant, Frederick Douglass, Stonewall Jackson (USI.9d). Our main activity of that day will have everyone do a role play after reading about one of those famous men. Students are to read and act as if they were someone like Abraham Lincoln  or Jefferson Davis. After identifying each individual, students will take a quiz on this information.

Thursday 4/7/16

After completing a short review of the important people of the Civil War, we'll take a look at some of the major events and battles (USI.9e). Our big activity of the day will be to create a large timeline so we can hang it outside of the classroom for all of us to see!

Friday 4/8/16

We will begin a large study guide and review all content covered in class from this week. Additionally, we will use the laptops to play review quizzes off the website "Kahoot" and students can win prizes for high scores!

And as always, here are additional online resources for you to take advantage of:

Students can also refer to Brainpop for additional information and interactive quizzes also!
